EMIRATES NATIONAL The Emirates National Auto Museum is located about one hour drive south of Abu Dhabi towards the Liwa Oasis. The pyramid-shaped museum houses the private collection of Sheikh Hamad Bin Hamdan Al Nahyan with around 200 exhibition items. The building houses an unusual collection of predominantly 1950s to 1990s vehicles in various stages of customisation. The star pieces are four times oversized replicas of a Dodge truck with different trailers, road going and reputed to provide full mobile housing inside; a very detailed rep li cable of an 1890s Benz three-wheeler that is prominently displayed; a small collection of identical Mercedes limousines, that together represent all colours of the rainbow, a trademark of the owner; several 1950s American and 1970s European limousines and 10 prototypes of racing cars.

LIWA OASIS
Liwa Oasis is about 150 kilome- tres from Abu Dhabi city on the northern edge of the Rub Al Khali desert, also known as the Empty Quarter, and it has been a magnet for explorers for more than half a century. It stretches about 100 kilo- metres east to west and is home to no less than 50 villages.
Liwa features freshwater pools and date plantations. The desert in Liwa has remained unchanged for centuries and still retains its mountainous red dunes. The area is great for camel rides, desert safaris, sand skiing and Bedouin camp trips.

The geographical and economic centre of Liwa Oasis is Muzayri, which connects to the main Abu Dhabi highway. The villages of Liwa Oasis are the southernmost settle- ments of Abu Dhabi and of the UAE. Mahdar Bin Usayyan is the southern and eastern most village, located about 10 kilometres from the border with Saudi Arabia.
