Head turning mural for Whipsnade Zoo’s Giftshop


ZSL Whipsnade Zoo sits in over six hundred acres of Bedfordshire countryside near Dunstable. One of the largest wildlife conservation parks in Europe, Whipsnade is home to over six thousand animals, many representing endangered species. Most of the park’s animal population is housed in very large enclosures while some roam the park freely. The park has attracted huge numbers of visitors throughout its history,


on occasions, over a million a year have chosen it as a destination for a day out. Many finish their visit with trip to the park’s gift shop and take home a keepsake. The gift shop is fronted with a very large expanse of glass through which,


from the outside, the backs of display units could be seen. Concerned that the view in from the outside looked cluttered, the park called in The Window Film Company® and commissioned it to cover the windows with white vinyl so obscuring the view. It was only after the white film had been applied for a while that the park’s management realised it was missing an opportunity to lift the whole presence of the shop and so a colourful mural was designed and again The Window Film Company was commissioned to print and apply it. The Window Film Company made some adjustments to the


design it was supplied to allow for the design’s aesthetic positioning within the structural components of the window and printed the mural on Metamark MD5. The printed mural was applied un-laminated and now really turns heads with the larger-than-life colour Metamark MD5 comfortably resolves.
