This Months Profile: John Coleman Date Signed : 1999 Position : Manager Date of Birth : 12/10/1962 Previous clubs : Kirby Town, Burscough, Marine, Southport, Runcorn FC, Halton, Macclesfield, Rhyl, Morecambe, Ashton and Lancaster. Now in his twelfth season at Stanley and is easily the club’s longest serving manager. Only Sir Alex Ferguson and Arsene Wenger have served longer in the Football League or Premier League. Since his appointment, the club has won three Championships and five cup competitions, making him by far Stanley’s most successful manager. John was previously Player/Manager at Ashton United where his side narrowly missed promotion, though they did win the First Division Cup twice. In his long playing career at Kirby Town, Burscough, Marine, Southport, Runcorn, Macclesfield, Rhyl, Morecambe and Lancaster, he fully justified his reputation as one of the most prolific goal scorers in non-league football, scoring well over 500 goals. His many honours include England Semi-Pro caps as well as several Player of the Year awards. He was deservedly voted The Conference Manager of the season after leading Stanley to The Championship. John has seen Stanley end each of his twelve seasons in charge in a better League position and very few managers can say that.

'STOP SMOKING'
community health campaign will be running at Stanley’s home fixture against Lincoln City on Friday 17th September. Staff for the local smoking cessation group will set up a stand behind the Clayton End and they will be measuring supporters lung age with a special device, hoping to convince their smoking supporters to sign up to a twelve week stop smoking course, which we will host at the club. As well as the smoking cessation workers, companies that produce smoking aids will have representatives at the ground to hand out information and marketing paraphernalia to prospective 'quitters'.
