Designer/Senior Designer (Lighting), Sheffield Office

Arup lighting requires a creative and ambitious designer to work with our team in the UK and throughout the world. The work is varied and includes daylight/sunlight planning advice and design, lighting design, architectural interior lighting, public realm, public art and functional external light design.
Role: - A leading role on all aspects of lighting projects producing lighting designs, sketches, graphical output drawings, specifications, artwork designs, proposals, design reports, lighting calculations
- Attending meetings with clients and collaborators - Communicating with clients to establish their needs, and maintaining a dialogue throughout the project - Supervising and co-ordinating the work of other team members and co-ordinating work with building professionals of other disciplines - Producing marketing materials
Requirements: - A degree in lighting design, architecture or interior design -
Proven experience of working in a lighting practice, architectural practice or interior design office
- Proven experience of using AutoCAD and Photoshop packages and a good working knowledge of lighting design calculation packages - Knowledge of Rhino and/or 3D Studio Max would be an advantage -
Good understanding of architecture, engineering, and construction processes Excellent planning, organisational and time management skills - Highly motivated and willing to take on new challenges
- Ability to work under pressure and to meet strict deadlines - -
Excellent communications skills (written and verbal)

Associate and Senior Associate Level Lighting Designers
Award-winning, US-based lighting consulting firm seeks associate and senior associate level lighting designers with a minimum of 5+ years of design and project management experience for our Atlanta, Dubai and Beijing offices to assist principal designers on hospitality, corporate, retail, entertainment and mixed-use projects. We design and manage a diverse range of colorful and creative projects in more than 20 countries worldwide.
Tasks include providing project management, design analysis, specification and cut sheet development, field coordination, 3D visualization, calculations, schedules, controls design, budget estimating, submittal review, and presentation development. Applicant must have a degree in architectural lighting, theatrical lighting, interior design or architecture with prior experience in the design and application of lighting in commercial buildings. Proficiency in AutoCAD, AGI32, MS Office Suite and Adobe PhotoShop required. Proficiency in Revit, 3DS and InDesign is a plus. Spoken and written fluency in Arabic or Chinese is also desirable.
