TECHNICAL INNOVATION

SSL2102 NXP Semiconductors

The SSL2102 is a Switched Mode Power Supply (SMPS) controller IC designed to drive LED devices. It operates in combi- nation with a phase cut dimmer directly from rectified mains, and includes a high-voltage power switch and a circuit to allow direct start-up from the recti- fied mains voltage. The SSL2102 also includes high-voltage circuitry to supply the phase cut dimmer. www.nxp.com

DESIGN EXCELLENCE

Light-Drive Elite e:cue

Light-Drive Elite is a wall-mounted standalone DMX controller and interac- tive user interface for dynamic light- ing. End-users can easily set up colour changing effects and control lighting using the device. The user interface features touch-sensitive keys and wheel with colour LEDs for intuitive selection of colours, and adjustment of intensity and speed. Memory function allows end-users to define four colours for colour-changing effects. It can be easily connected to LED RGB fixtures through an RJ45 connection for power and data. www.traxontechnologies.com

Lightfair International received nearly 200 submissions for the 14 designated categories, and each individual product was judged by an independent panel of renowned lighting professionals. Here is a selection of the winners

MOST INNOVATIVE

Helieon Module Bridgelux/Molex

Helieon is an LED light source that turns and locks into place, emulating traditional lighting sockets and allowing users to alter beam angle, colour temperature or light output without removing or replacing the luminaire. It combines industry-lead- ing solid-state lighting technology from Bridgelux with innovative, easy-to-use interconnect technology from Molex. Emulating the familiar bulb and socket, the Helieon light source and socket system delivers effortless installation, inter- changeability and upgradeability, allow- ing manufacturers to deliver a variety of

lighting effects from a single luminaire design and take advantage of future LED technology improvements, pre or post installation. Lighting environments can now be easily changed or adapted by switching beam angles, colour tempera- tures or light output at the module level, without any change to the luminaire, just like changing a light bulb. www.bridgelux.com www.molex.com

LightLouver is an innovative approach to interior side-mounted daylighting that is less obtrusive and less costly than tradi- tional lightshelves, yet provides superior daylighting performance, as well as full solar control. Consisting of specially designed reflective slats, LightLouver panels are similar in appearance to mini-blinds mounted in the Daylight section of the window system. Up to 95% of the sunlight that passes through the daylight window is redirected onto the ceiling, reaching 15’ deep into the space for each foot of panel height. www.lightlouver.com
