INTERBAD TO STRESS ‘VITAL HEALTH BENEFITS’ OF THE POOL INDUSTRY
The importance of stressing the health benefits of swimming will be one of the main themes at Germany’s Interbad show in Stuttgart this year.
The event takes place at Stuttgart Trade Fair Centre from 13-16 October – and the German specialist trade sees convincing the public of the healthier benefits of being in a pool as fundamental to the recovery of the trade after tough years. Dr Christian Ochsenbauer, Managing Director of the German Association for the Recreational and Medicinal Bath Industry said: “In these times of economic tension, special driving forces are needed within Germany for the preservation and continued development of public swimming pools. The biggest opportunity for achieving this lies in the health-conscious thinking of the population and, thus, the swimming pool users. This trend for health-benefiting activities is key to a positive outcome for the public swimming pool establishments. The swimming pools have a unique opportunity.” New surveys recently show there are approximately 6,700 public swimming pools in

The popularity of the swimming pool just keeps on growing and swimming is still one of the nation’s favourite sports. “After the record of 455 international exhibitors at the last event, all signs are pointing towards continued success,” says Frank Röder, Messe Stuttgart Project Manager. A total of 16,500 visitors attended the show in 2008. An important event during the congress will be the “Paths to the energetic optimisation of

dehumidification being presented. A new award for the country’s top commercial pool is to be launched. The aim of the competition is to move away from the image of the public swimming pool as an “economic burden” and to focus on its role as a place of “added value”. The competition will award public indoor and outdoor pools which have demonstrably proven to be of added value to society.
LYON SHOW AIMS FOR REPEAT PERFORMANCE IN 2010
The biggest trade show in Europe in 2010 – Piscine exhibition will be back with a splash at the Eurexpo Convention Centre in Lyon from 16 to 19 November 2010.
The four-day show will copy the format of the successful 2008 event, held for the first time in conjunction with Aqualie, dedicated to community aquatic leisure and wellness centres and Wellgreen focusing on outdoor pool surrounds.
For its 30th birthday, Piscine is launching Piscine Connect, designed to help professionals make the very most of their presence at the show. It will help attendees develop new skills, find information and recruit through Pool Vision training sessions, jobs forum and early-bird sessions involving experts at the show. Aqualie will showcase the latest novelties and market trends in aquatic leisure and wellness. Given the booming market for outdoor living and with gardens now viewed as real extensions to the home, Wellgreen is looking to become the benchmark event for external design. Furthermore, Dubai continues to be a dynamic market – home for a young and multicultural population with high disposable incomes, cosmopolitan influences, modern lifestyle and image conscious attitude. The fast growing trend for the well being experience provides a ready and expanding market for pool and spa equipments and facilities.
Over 200 exhibitors from 20 countries are expected to take part including manufacturers, distributors and providers of pool and spa products and services. The event is expected to attract more than 3,500 international trade visitors and private individuals including industry decision-makers from the GCC countries, Middle East and the North African region.
“We are excited to return to SPLASH!,” says Brian Van Bower. “We view the pool industry from a global perspective and see the potential for sharing ideas and knowledge from all points of view.”
Genesis 3 has presented programmes in Germany, France, Italy, Indonesia, Spain and many other countries. In addition they have organised educational tours of water related architectural projects worldwide.
The SPLASH! programme will include “The Beauty of the Edge: Vanishing Edges, Perimeter Overflows and Wet Deck Projects” by Skip Phillips, considered by many to be the leading authority on these applications.
“We’re excited by the success of SPLASH!” says show organiser, Simon Cooper. “We worked very hard to make it a professional trade show that brings people together, but we were still pleasantly surprised by just how many people attended. “Networking opportunities like this don’t come around too often, and people know if they miss this one, they’ll have to wait another two years for the next event.”
More than 400 delegates attended the informative seminars and took part in the pre-show workshops.
