It is worth noting that in September 2009 the EU commenced the mandatory phase out of 100W and frosted incandescent non- directional light bulbs. This new legislation was agreed by EU Member States during December 2009. In accordance with this new legislation all non-directional halogen bulbs are affected and by law are due to be phased out by 2012. RGB LED’s emit up to 11 different lighting effects so are ideal for mood lighting. The lighting operates via remote control and can produce up to five different colour sequences. Extremely cost effective and suitable for liner or concrete pool finishes the system is also ideal for installation in both new pool builds and refurbishments. Plastica can also supply LED lighting kits specifically for above- ground pools that require no tools to fit and come complete with 6m of cable. Paramount Pools have introduced an LED lighting system that requires no tools to fit to the pool structure! The unique (patented) ‘Universal Flat Light System’ is secured to the pool wall by simply screwing into a dedicated standard 1.5” (3.5cm) threaded female (supplied) fitting. Conventional light systems require an approximate 300mm diameter internal housing (niche) to be installed into the pool wall structure to house the lighting system. This is time consuming and prone to leaks if not installed correctly. Installing the Seamaid LED lighting system from Paramount is far easier, quicker and more reliable. Paramount’s Seamaid LED lighting is also ideal for liner and concrete pool refurbishment. Many pool lighting replacement parts are no longer available. By installing a threaded fitting or conversion kit into an existing niche housing a universal flat light can then be installed. Certikin has always been a trailblazer when it comes to underwater lighting so it is no surprise that its latest launches namely the Eco-Star and Hi-Performance LEDs, fully utilise the latest advances in LED light technology and are unique in their performance. The Eco-Star boasts a minimum life expectancy of 50,000 hours whilst the Hi- Performance LED promises an amazing 100,000 hours! Installing LED lights or upgrading existing lights to LED not only saves money but also helps to reduce carbon footprint as each light will reduce energy consumption by at least 80% compared to traditional lights.
The Eco-Star LED has a two year warranty and an outstanding technical specification: 12 number Osram 1.2 watt LEDs; 18 watts power consumption; 1400 Lumens and a voltage range of 9v to 24v. The Hi-Performance LED also has a two year warranty; 14 number Cree 2 watt LED’s; 32W Power Consumption; 2200 Lumens and a voltage range of 9v – 24v. A custom designed individual lens is fitted to the High Performance LED to direct the light to where it’s needed. Both LEDs have a 2 pin cable connection which allows for the easy replacement of existing halogen lights. A two stage leak test carried out during assembly under vacuum conditions will remove any moisture inside the lamp housing. Both the Eco- Star and the High Performance feature Borasilicate scratch resistant glass lens covers which will not discolour or scratch over time. The lights have a 316 stainless steel body and include a lifetime silicone o ring seal between machine rolled stainless steel and the glass lens. These lights certainly should not have their radiance hidden under bushels and in addition to swimming pools, decking, water features – all outdoor areas can be aesthetically enhanced with a cleverly installed mix of modern lighting
