IN BRIEF

NEW CHLORINE TESTER FROM HANNA

A new mini Chlorine Checker from Hanna Instruments is set to change water testing for swimming pool owners. The checker gives accurate, instant results and has a launch price of £39.50 including delivery. It is the first low cost digital tester on the market. Manual chemical test kits have been criticised and some digital instruments have been too highly priced for the home market or for use in on-the- spot quality control. Testing is quick giving accurate and instant results. The LCD display makes it simple to read and the useful auto shut-off feature means the Hanna Checker can’t be left on by mistake. It is portable and with its

distinctive egg-shaped design, fits easily into both palm and pocket. One of five single parameter Checkers in the new launch range, Free Chlorine is joined by fellow Hanna Checkers for Total Chlorine, Iodine, Iron and Phosphate.

WATERCO’S MULTICYCLONE BECOMES MULTI-TALENTED

Since the launch of the MultiCyclone at the Barcelona show two and a half years ago, where it scooped the prestigious Sustainability award, Waterco’s MultiCyclone has gone from strength to strength. “We have been surprised by the variety of the installations where the MultiCyclone has been used, ranging from car washes to industrial cooling towers,” comments Tony Fisher, Managing Director of Waterco Europe. “In the present climate, consumers are far more interested in finding products

which are environmentally friendly and energy efficient.” The MultiCyclone was originally designed for the Australian market in order to save water as a result of drought conditions. It was initially targeted at the pool market to reduce the frequency of backwashing of sand filters. The swimming pool industry has really taken on board the benefits of the MultiCyclone. Not only does it reduce back washing, it has no moving parts to wear or tear so the maintenance is almost non- existent. In other industries such as water treatment, aquaculture and commercial installations the benefits can be even greater. Two recent applications which highlight the range of the product are in a car wash facility where it is used as the main filtration so grey water can be used as preliminary wash water. The second application was on sewerage maintenance vehicles where the

water is extremely dirt laden. Waterco says it is keen to hear from the market and the comments received have been really positive. One modification that Waterco has made is the addition of a pressure relief valve, driven by customer feedback. The air relief valve enables depressurisation for maintenance and eases cleaning particularly when a two or three way valve is not installed to enable water flow to be throttled. If you have any examples of where the MultiCyclone has been used with particular effectiveness, Waterco is always interested in testimonials or photos of installations. You can send these to info@waterco.eu
