These changes all help to make the hot tub a sound investment which will bring years of enjoyment and relaxation when it is serviced and maintained as it should be.
With the increasing price of fuel and the constant reminders of how we should all become ‘energy conscious’, encouragement should be given to ditch the old, and probably uneconomical, hot tub of 10 years ago and replace it with a well insulated, energy efficient unit which will give many years of fun and relaxation with minimal effort and maintenance.
With the development of iPods® and MP3 players the market has to move to incorporate them and so more and more hot tubs are developing audio systems which also provide FM radio and CD player access. Even floating remote controls allows adjustment to the music without the need to break the relaxation circle and step out, dry a hand and step back in! Waterproof enclosures are included to protect the iPod® from accidental splashes so everyone is safe and can relax in the knowledge that everything is protected. Although not everyone has found that customers are choosing to upgrade existing units but are instead becoming spas owners for the first time and making an initial purchase. The experience Stephen Crabb of Catalina Spas found was that; “Our own survey indicates that as little as 1% of spa sales are upgrades.” On discussing the issue with Catalina Spas’ dealers Stephen found that the majority of sales are to new owners not those wishing to upgrade an existing hot tub. Should a trade-in be requested by a customer then in their experience the dealers are best placed to determine prices and deals which would appeal to the appropriate market.
Knowing what the customer has purchased in the past and what their current requirements and needs are will give the dealers a strong starting position. Hot tubs are becoming an affordable part of people’s lives. There are adverts in an assortment of magazines which will cross the tables of a wide variety of homes – from the terrace house to cottages and the larger detached properties – hot tubs are a perfect relaxation tool suitable for most budgets. They were featured at the Ideal Home show this year so the public are becoming aware of the changes and additions that this vast market opportunity has to offer.
