“The 2010 season has got under way with new products, new innovation and more enquires”

Certikin’s Dline Riviera one-piece pools are now available in a light grey and dark grey granite colour

f customers want a pool that will rival the best for longevity, keep its good looks and give the minimum maintenance, fibreglass is clearly an increasingly attractive option. If you add in the benefits of an easy pool installation then it’s clear why sales of one- piece fibreglass pools are ‘flying’. The UK’s market in one-piece pools has in the past two years moved from being a fledgling side of the business to a more mature sector in its own right. It’s a market which has ‘sorted’ itself out recently – a reference to a more stable pricing policy, clearer differences between products and a growing public awareness of the benefits of what are still referred to as ‘pools-in-a box’. The reference is an unkind one as one-piece pools are a considerable technological achievement – installed in days not weeks, pre-fitted with connecting pipework and valves and now with fitted pool covers. They are a product which fits the public’s price conscious demands and are becoming the complete drop in a hole pool and as such are having an ongoing impact on the consumer. The 2010 season has got under way with new products, new innovations and more enquires. A relatively few number of companies compete in the market where for 2010 it’s clear there’s more quality and better marketing within the sector.

The sector is still influenced by recession affected home owners who see themselves staying put and not moving home for the next few years and who are prepared to invest up to £30,000 to get a pool which is installed with everything in place.

Multiforma has won a significant market share in the UK with a quality one-piece pool product imported from Spain. The company has been manufacturing one-piece pools

since 1972 and they are manufactured in a state-of-the-art factory in Valencia. Multiforma is perhaps one of the oldest and most respected swimming pool manufacturers in Europe and holds government accreditations for the materials used as well the manufacturing processes. It uses a combination of epoxyvinylester resin, the highest quality fibreglass and an Iso- Neopentylglycol gel coat finish in the manufacture of their pools The materials are selected not just for their quality but because they pass the UNE 53955 standard tests and controls. Twenty six pools make up the range in sizes from 3 metres to 10 metres. The range includes constant depth pools which have become very popular, so popular that a new flat bottomed pool has been introduced in the classic Roman ended Nilo range. This new model is 9.2m x 4.1m x 1.5m deep.

The options are endless: Custom colours, mosaic tiled borders, overflow systems,

special depths, overflow pools, light weight installations for penthouse and roof top installations and counter-current. The pool is quickly installed in days rather than weeks and weeks. When the pool arrives on site it has already been fitted with all the equipment needed, e.g. underwater lights, skimmer, water inlets etc. It is then lowered into the hole and backfilled with a sand/cement mixture whilst the pool is filling with water. Multiforma design and outer shell reinforcement ensures structural strength and at the same time provides the optimal level of elasticity to any ground movement. No danger of cracking as in a tiled concrete pool. The pool arrives as a one-piece seamless moulding, which gives the best assurance against leaks over any other type of pool – as it has no seams, joints or liners to fail. Fibreglass has a luxurious smooth finish and because it is impervious, bacteria and algae have nowhere to gain a foothold. Because there is no reaction between chemicals and
