NEW PARTNERSHIPS

BSPF MANAGING DIRECTOR CHRIS HAYES SETS THE SCENE FOR TWO NEW PARTNERSHIPS NOW UNDERWAY AND LOOKS BACK AT THE SUCCESSES TO COME FROM SPATEX 2010

of the individual award sponsors: AstralPool UK, Calorex Heat Pumps, Certikin International, Golden Coast, Heatstar, Nsure and Oase. SPATA is also indebted to Swimming Pool News (SPN), as the sponsor of the evening drinks reception and for providing such good coverage in this publication and on their website.

A lot of local media interest has been generated for the winners. There are some images from the evening in the following Pool & Spa Industry pages and elsewhere in this issue of SPN.

BISHTA and SPATA members have been used to receiving a members’ newsletter called Pipeline, and it has been decided that these useful news stories will be featured within SPN.

The magazine title Pool & Spa Industry, managed by Pool Industry Promotions (PIP) is now incorporated within Swimming Pool News (SPN) as part of the magazine licence with Go Publishing. The current licence agreement is for three years and it also involves a tie up between PIP’s Pool & Spa Lifestyle title, being incorporated within What Pool & Hot Tub.

I

Swimming Pool News is now the official industry magazine, and therefore profits generated from advertising revenues will be used to help promote the industry. With at least eight pages to utilise each issue, this should allow much greater exposure for BSPF and the other companies in our industry. This issue sees a focus on Pool Industry Promotions (PIP) and future magazine issues will look at BISHTA, BSPF, SPATA and SPATEX. For the all important PR for the industry, PIP is working with a new partner, BOTTLE PR. The company has a wealth of knowledge and experience and have brought with them a fresh pair of eyes to assist us find new ways to promote ourselves. More information about BOTTLE PR is included in the feature on Pool Industry Promotions. It was good to see many people attending SPATEX and with 108 exhibitors (including 32 new companies) there was something for everyone. I would like to offer my congratulations and thanks to Michele Bridle, Sandy Crockford and the rest of the SPATEX team for their hard work in putting on the show.

Congratulations are also due to the SPATA Gold, Silver and Bronze Award winners for their fabulous entries. The evening was really enjoyable and with the support

I do not want to miss the opportunity to promote the President’s Weekend, being held in Blackpool. Tony Welsby and Carole Darbyshire have been finalising a variety of activities and please note that non members will be welcome to attend this year’s event. Finally from me, for this issue, I am delighted that Swimming Pool News will be featuring a regular column giving people the chance to express their concerns, views, ideas and thoughts on the specialist pool and spa trade. This should give a platform for the industry to debate important issues and agree ways forward to continue to improve our industry.

t is very exciting for me to be writing this column, as we are starting new partnerships with Go Publishing and BOTTLE PR.

As the first contributor to this feature, Bob Kent has been well respected within the industry for the work he has done with his companies and the work on behalf of the 2000 Club, which later became Pool Industry Promotions (PIP). Having personally written to Bob, I find myself agreeing with his overall sentiments about the industry, working together to achieve more for the individuals and the industry as a whole. I am also gratified that Bob recognises the great work contained within the SPATA Standards.

However, I am puzzled by Bob’s criticisms of the BSPF and his apparent lack of understanding on what goes on in each of the companies that support the industry. It is very easy to become detached from what BISHTA or SPATA is achieving for its members and Bob has identified that he has not been active in the organisations since the late 1990s and is currently not a member of either trade association.
