THE SKINNY ON THE LATEST AND GREATEST

BLEND 10: IN10SITY 57 Hook 15 Length 16 Breakpoint Shape

Manufacturer’s Intent: “The In10sity features the popular P2R core, but with a slight twist,” says Blend 10 ball designer and co-owner, Bill Hall. “We have made the P2R core with the highest density possible, producing the P2RHD core to bring the RG to 2.46 and the differential to 0.42, while also adding our new coverstock, the B10A20. The combination of the higher density core and the coverstock gives the player a higher hook potential than our two previous releases, the NST and the OSW [both July 2014]. The In10sity has extreme control of the midlane with added motion in the backend of the lane.”

Core: The P2RHD symmetric core has an RG of 2.460 and a differential of .042. We saw about 4 to 5 inches of flare.

Coverstock: The red pearl B10A20 coverstock is sanded with 4000 grit Abralon. It has an RA value of 5.57 and an effective surface grit of 3680.

Overview: This third ball in the Blend10 line is their hooker, for sure. The In10sity worked well on the Stone Street pattern. When it came off the spot, it moved with some authority. We were crossing the arrows at the 16-board, creating a strong breakpoint on the seven-board at 46 or 47 feet, according to the CATS. The In10sity was over an arrow more than the NWT. It forced us a little deeper than we usually like on the USBC Doubles/ Singles pattern, but we could create a good amount of area to the right all the way out to the six-board at the 45-foot breakpoint. On the light house pattern, we stood deep left and threw it to the right with no doubt of it making a turn back to

“A MATTE FINISH, LIKE THIS BALL HAS, WOULD TEND TO MAKE THE BALL STOP ON THE BACKEND, BUT THE IN10SITY DIDN’T SEEM TO LOSE ITS POWER ALL THE WAY THROUGH THE DECK.”

the pocket, crossing 20 at the arrows to the nine- board at the 46-foot breakpoint. A matte finish, like this ball has, would tend to make the ball stop on the backend, but the In10sity didn’t seem to lose its power all the way through the deck. It will give a rev-challenged player hook out of the box with a strong back-end reaction. This ball would be hard for a speed-dominant player to throw through the breakpoint, but it will be your choice for longer and higher volume patterns.
