Franchise Focus Ready for take off

Mobalpa’s newest franchisee team prepare to launch their business INVESTMENT LEVEL: £50,000

B

efore investing in

their Mobalpa franchise, Patrick Gallagher and Sonja De Weyer were both involved in property development and buy-to-

let acquisition. Today, they own and run Mobalpa’s Chelsea showroom.

What appealed to you about Mobalpa? What immediately appealed was the quality of the product, the flair and “Je ne sais quoi” of the design, and presentation of the offer. Subsequently, it was the people involved, the culture of the company and the values and care towards the environment of the factories and manufacturing process.

What interested you about this sector? We have been involved in creating and increasing property values through design, installation and dressing. The synergy with Mobalpa and our current business interests appeared a ‘no-brainer’.

What training and support did / do you receive? Right from the start a Mobalpa mentor has led us diligently through the process, from initial planning to premises acquisition. As we open our doors that support is intensifying – along with our own training in France at the main factory complex, our staff have also been trained in the

Mobalpa way of doing business. The other franchisees have also helped us establish quickly in the marketplace.

How’s it going so far? What sort of challenges have you faced? The typical challenges one would face with any site or building project along with the requirements necessary to start and create a new business. Time and staff management have been key. Our planning and attention to detail has helped enormously along with the great deal of advice and support from Mobalpa.

but they have made us stronger and more determined for the future.

What’s your view on the competition? We view competition as healthy and have diligently studied our market area and demographic. We are very impressed with some of our neighbours in this industry but we see ourselves as sitting well with the Mobalpa offer and able to compete effectively across the board.

“We aim to create a showroom full of happy and satisfied clients, staff and directors”

What’s the wider picture? We aim to create a showroom full of happy and satisfied clients, staff and directors, which will also enable future expansion plans.

If you could start again what would you do differently? We could not envisage many of the challenges we have faced and overcome

Would you recommend franchising to others? Firstly, to be successful you need a deep-rooted desire to be involved in this industry. If you would like to run and own your own business with the support and backing of a tried-and-tested successful multinational company, then a Mobalpa franchise could well be for you.

What advice would you give to future Mobalpa franchisees? Research and planning is key, and be prepared for some hard graft. n
