How has your business developed over your fi rst year of trading? In the last few months, our store has gone from strength to strength. We are constantly increasing our customer base; people are coming into the shopping centre just because of CeX being present! This has been great for us, and as we drive our business forward our buys have increased quite signifi cantly, allowing us to have a wider range of products in store. Our like-for-like sales have also been extremely positive and this is a great sign that the business will carry on striving forward and excel in the coming future.
How have you found the ongoing support from CeX?
The ongoing support has been brilliant. It’s great being part of a successful brand where everyone is like family and each department, from IT to pricing, is extremely helpful. The ongoing guidance and support is what enables us to carry on progressing and hitting our targets. The help from my franchise manager Brian Gregory has also been brilliant and invaluable throughout the whole process.
1 Fahad Yusaf, CeX Dagenham Has your CeX franchise met your
expectations? The franchise has defi nitely surpassed my expectations; everything has been great. Going into a franchise and investing a huge amount of money is always daunting, but CeX have been both assuring and unequivocal in all aspects from the start; there is nothing hidden from you and you have all the necessary tools readily available. Being part of such a big brand, I was pleasantly surprised to see that everyone is open to suggestions and ideas, and as a franchisee I found this to be a great thing as everyone is there to aid in the growth of your business and guide you to make it the best it can be.
What challenges have you faced in your fi rst year and how did you overcome them? Being my fi rst business, it has been a great learning curve. Dealing with day-to-day tasks and learning how to successfully operate has been a great experience. Being responsible for the wellbeing and development of so many staff members is a challenge in itself. You soon realise,
however, how rewarding it is to see their progression. I have also been very fortunate to have the ongoing guidance and continued support from a very close friend of mine who owns the Lewisham and Ilford stores.
Did your store hit its fi rst-year target? Yes! I was very happy to see that the store hit its fi rst-year target – being in the store everyday and working hard has defi nitely paid off.
What is your favourite part of being a CeX franchise owner?
I have always wanted to be a business owner and be in the position to drive it forward; being part of CeX has allowed me to do so. I enjoy what I do and seeing the store evolve from the fi rst day it opened until now has been an incredible journey.
What are your plans for the future of your business? I am currently looking at more locations and will be looking to expand and open my second store very soon!
Would you recommend a CeX franchise to others? I would defi nitely recommend investing in a CeX franchise to others. You have to be very determined and motivated – it is hard work – but at the same time if you are willing to put in the long hours, it will be very rewarding.
