Show Guide
Along with the seminars, prospective franchisees can gain first-hand advice from existing franchisees at the Real Franchise Stories panels. This consistently popular seminar will supply invaluable insights when it comes to the reality of taking on a franchise, allowing visitors to gain a real understanding of the transition from employment to running your own business. Happening across both days, the talks will feature a panel of four current franchisees from business sectors including property, food and drink, care, cost reduction, logistics, home improvement and cleaning. Established brands such as Home Instead Senior Care, Auditel, WPA, McDonald’s, Ecocleen, Platinum Property Partners, Dublcheck and Expense Reduction Analysts will be represented. Financing a business venture is a huge part of the process, visitors can take advantage of the free financial advice available at the Finance Clinic. Facilitators Franchise Finance will be offering visitors help with drafting a business plan or raising funds for their new pursuit. Those looking to change their career will also hugely benefit from a visit to the Careers Clinic. Here, experts from Personal Career Management will work with visitors to establish their skill set and match them to the best-suited opportunity available. One individual who found the free features and advice highly useful at a previous event was Simon Webb, who, after serving in the Royal Air Force for 18 years, wanted to start channelling his skill set into something fresh and exciting. Simon sought professional advice from a bank at the exhibition who suggested he consider the sectors of fast food, care of the elderly and business-to- business consulting. Simon explained: “I discarded the first two as they didn’t
appeal to me but I met ERA, a business consultancy franchise, and got chatting a little later on to an ERA franchise partner. The rest, as they say, is history!” Simon followed the ERA training and franchise model rigorously and, within six months, had managed to sign two clients and lay the groundwork for many more. He commented on his franchise journey: “One of the best things about the business is being directly rewarded for the work you put in. I love the fact that I’m responsible and accountable for my own efforts.” Another popular event returning to this
year’s exhibition is the Franchisee Recruitment Open Sessions, hosted by one of the world’s most established and successful brands: McDonald’s. These seminars offer visitors an exclusive insight into one of the most successful franchises ever launched. Visitors are given the chance to meet with McDonald’s staff and learn more about their first-class franchisee training programme. The McDonald’s team will be looking for potential franchisees with a good work ethic that are interested in running a customer- oriented business.
A VIP Lounge is also provided for potential franchisees who are considering investing their equity at the higher end of the franchise scale. The exclusive lounge offers the perfect atmosphere for networking and holding in-depth conversations with franchisors over complimentary refreshments. To ensure attendees make the most of their time at The National Franchise Exhibition, an online booking service for meetings is available at
wwww.franchiseinfo.co.uk, where visitors can browse the extensive exhibitor list and secure pre-booked appointments with companies of interest to them. n

It’s always a pleasure to welcome visitors to our franchise exhibitions. Because of what’s on offer at the shows, attending is an excellent way to conduct a significant amount of research in a short space of time, and that’s true whether you have a clear idea on the specific brand(s) you want to speak with, or you’re simply looking to find out more about what franchising is and what’s out there.
The answer to the latter question is:
plenty. The sector has never been in better health. Having reached new heights as early as 2011, while many businesses were still suffering serious consequences of the financial crisis, franchising has grown ever since. It is now worth almost £14billion to the economy, is home to some 40,000 franchisee-owned businesses and more than 900 individual brands and is responsible for more than half a million jobs.
Over the course of the exhibition, you have the opportunity to find out why that’s the case and, more importantly, the right way to get involved. With impartial seminars on many aspects of franchising, quality control checks on exhibitors, and a wealth of highly regarded professionals offering advice on becoming a franchisee or franchisor, you can take comfort that you’re in the right place. We look forward to seeing you at the bfa stand and helping you change your life in 2015.
