INNOTRANS PREVIEW XXXX
High precision, full-contact monitoring
Dorte Overmark Rasmussen of Greenwood Engineering A/S explains more about the company’s MiniProf systems. G
reenwood Engineering A/S is the Danish manufacturer of the MiniProf digital
profi le measuring systems, which are high precision, full-contact tools for monitoring and analysing the cross-sectional profi le of train wheels, rails and brakes.
With more than 20 years of international experience in the railway industry, thousands of global users and a vast agent network in more than 50 countries, MiniProf has a very strong position on the world market. Based on high-resolution technology and secure full
contact measurements, the MiniProf system gives you the absolute best accuracy available on the world market and generates exact and reliable measurements without being aff ected by oil, dirt or refl ecting light on the surface.
In combination with a great data analysis toolbox and numerous calculation and alignment options, the MiniProf system enables users in purchase, maintenance and quality and safety departments all over the world to make important, proactive and critical decisions. It optimises the life of the asset, improves overall
performance and results in fi nancial savings and enhanced safety.
In addition, MiniProf represents a great
platform for global research, product design and development. MiniProf is designed in pure titanium to ensure accuracy, stability and durability. It is fast, compact and easy to use and can be confi gured to fi t almost all types of profi les. Why choose diff erently?

The latest generation of rail milling trains at InnoTrans 2014
Gottfried Helmut Sager of Linsinger Austria says the company’s cutting-edge technology is setting trends in rail processing, due to continuous development and optimisation.
In
spring 2015, Linsinger will deliver two of the latest generation SF02T-FS rail milling trains to MTR Corporation Ltd in Hong Kong.
The machine is being introduced to the public at InnoTrans 2014, at outdoor display F1/14.
The Linsinger method of processing the railhead is a result of the proven combination of milling and grinding. Continuous design and manufacturing improvements, with ever- lower emission of pollutants, have had positive eff ects on processing time as well as processing quality, making it a particularly good solution for undergrounds and metros.
The milling train has a very small clearance diagram and a tight curve radius of about 50m.
Examples of recent innovations include improvements in the working life of its tools, extending the useability of its cutting edges – which means costs are signifi cantly reduced
122 | rail technology magazine Aug/Sep 14 and economic effi ciency increased.
A Linsinger-developed measuring system for the cross-profi le and longitudinal profi le after processing is directly installed on the machine, which also has the ability to process switches and rail crossings.
It also has completely residue and emission- free processing, an important factor when operating in tunnels. Neither milling chips nor grinding dust remain on the railway track.
The basic advantages of the Linsinger process are unchanged. The railhead is perfectly reprofi led in one working pass. Material removal is guaranteed, with a fl exible processing depth from 0.1mm to 1.5mm on the running surface and accordingly about 3mm on the gauge line.
The accuracy of the longitudinal profi le and cross profi le, as well as the quality of the
surface, meet the highest requirements. The processing takes place without high pressure, which is a gentle way to handle the material – for example, change of the metallurgical structure (blue colouring) is avoided.
For several decades, the development and production of the Linsinger rail milling trains has been performed entirely at the Linsinger- Rail Milling Technology Center in Steyrermühl, Upper Austria. CEO Hans Knoll said: “Our guiding principle at Linsinger is: to always be on top. We ensure this with constantly innovative enhancements of our high-tech-products.
“When our competitors announce the start of a new development – we’ve already dispatched it to our customers.”
