shooters, plus another with 15 different scenes in which the game, projectiles and experience changes with each scene. “Currently the biggest technical challenge is to create a ride with a combination of conventional targets and media screens,” explains Beumers. “Although the concept for media-based rides isn’t new, some of the executions we are working on most certainly are. You’ll have to experience them to believe them!” The Lagotronics Projects boss adds that the real interaction comes via the high resolution screens in the ride first. We are not depending on Special effects to get interactivity. Although projection mapping, augmented reality, or 4D-style effects like wind and vibration are also possible, they are just an addition to a great visual interactive experience. Furthermore the shooting system is very strong and reliable; it does not work with any laser or light beams and requites almost no maintenance. But Lagotronics Projects also has interactive solutions for smaller rides and budgets. Its Interactive Ride Technology can be used for any kind of ride or attraction – indoor, outdoor, trackless, walk-through etc. This spring the firm installed the complete audiovisual system, lighting and show control for Legoland Billund’s new haunted house in Denmark, known as Ghost. Some of the spooky scenes in the house also have interactive items. Legoland guests have to find the ghosts and trap them in the beam of a flashlight. This triggers an effect that brings even more ghostly creations to life. Achieved with the use of a very basic set-up, the result is a funny and very effective experience for the many children that visit this popular park. Lagrotronics’ game technology, all of which has been developed in- house, provides many potential uses. Ride set-ups, shooters and games can be customised on request. Furthermore audio, video, lights and special 4D-style effects are possible as an upgrade to ensure audiences are kept on the edge of their seats – turning the theme park guest of today into the repeat visitor of tomorrow.
