The Grutaventura is without doubt the most impressive part of the park. It is a beautiful underground cavern which was only was discovered recently. Visitors can descend to this magical underworld, walk along its corridors, swim in the cenotes and enjoy one of the most amazing journeys on offer at the Mayan Riviera. The caverns consist of two cenotes connected by passages naturally formed, where all throughout the cave there are beautiful natural formations of stalactites and stalagmites, which have formed as water seeped drops through the cracks in the roof of the cave for thousands of years to develop a thin layer of calcite around them, leaving nature to design formats of thin tubes. It has been estimated that it takes about 100 years for a stalactite grows a single cubic centimetre!

En el Eco Park Kantun Chi, los visitantes pueden nadar y bucear en alguno de los lagos subterráneos para disfrutar de la belleza natural de las cuevas, y si la natación no es su estilo, también hay pequeños kayaks disponibles.

"En Kantun Chi tenemos una enorme preocupación por el medio ambiente y estamos trabajando duro para preservar este hábitat natural", subraya un portavoz. "Nuestros animales son alimentados con frutas frescas y verduras a diario, y el trabajo arduo que realizamos está dando sus frutos. Hemos comenzado a ver un aumento en la población de algunas de las especies que se encontraban en riesgo, en el parque”.
