Continually growing, next month’s Euro Attractions Show (EAS) returns to Amsterdam with the largest exhibition floor in the event’s history, more than 20 hours of workshops and presentations, plus behind-the-scenes tours to attractions in the Netherlands and beyond.

L

ast held in the Dutch capital in 2009, when it attracted more than 8,000 visitors, this year’s EAS should be easily accessible to attraction industry professionals from across Europe, who will be able to browse the products of more than 400 exhibitors. Nearly all the big names will be there. Wrap up the first day’s business at the famous EAS Opening

After a food-light soiree in Amsterdam five years ago, IAAPA Europe has decided to take things outdoors on this occasion and will be holding the reception at the nearby city beach Strand Zuid. If it’s half as good as last year’s party at the Musée des Arts Forains in Paris, then it will be a great night indeed. Invited guests can things going at the (ticket only) European Star Awards, which will be staged by Kirmes & Park Revue magazine later the same evening at the Heineken Experience. There’s no official reception for Wednesday night, but expect a few exhibitors to be hosting events. The three-day IAAPA Institute for Attractions Managers kicks off ahead of the main event on Monday 21 September, with the IAAPA Safety Institute taking place at Beurs van Berlage on Monday only. Specialist education sessions include the Water Park Forum at Center Parcs Eemhof on Wednesday afternoon, Young Professionals Forum on Wednesday evening at the Heineken Experience and FEC/Small Park/Indoor Playground Day on-site at the RAI on Thursday.

Plopsa Parks chairman Steve

Van den Kerkhof will be keynote speaker at this year’s Leadership Breakfast on Thursday morning, 24 September, discussing his approach to park and attraction development using

the intellectual properties (IP) of Studio 100. Most of the above require tickets, but for the rest of the seminars you can simply turn up with your EAS badge and sit in on the proceedings. Speaking of IP-based experiences, representatives from BRC Imagination Arts, DreamWorks and Port Aventura will present the Branded Goods session on Tuesday afternoon, examining the advantages and disadvantages of incorporating TV characters within a park. Always a popular session, this year’s CEO Talk panel discussion, which follows, will include contributions from representatives of Liseberg, Walibi Holland, Duinrell and Vialand. Other topics in the conference programme include social media, mobile technology, seasonal events, attraction renewal, crisis management, and staff recruitment/training. Pre-event-tours will be offered on Monday to either Efteling or both

Walibi and Dolfinarium. The official EAS post-tour from Friday 25 to Sunday 27 September will take in Toverland, Burgers’ Zoo, the Corpus Experience, plus a hop over the border to Phantasialand in Germany.
