Park Profile parkworld-online.com

Hopefully in the next few months we will open the Immersive Tunnel from Simworx, and then in 2015 we will debut the Flying Theatre. So far we have developed 25 out of a total of 150 hectares. Next year I hope we will be able to open another 75 hectares, but it will be nothing to do with the movie park; it will be a fantastic green area out between the park and the seaside based on sport, adventure and ecology. I think we have to move step by step and try and maintain this level of service before we start thinking about another park or something like a hotel, for now I think it is more realistic to think that people will be travelling back to Rome. Our goal is to reach 1.5 million visitors in 2015, which will be our first full season when we will open for more than 260 days. Already we have welcomed guests from France, Russia and Brazil as well as Italy. I think a park like this provides a service for the many international tourists that come to Rome; we need it.

Prior to joining Cinecittá World, Emmanuel Goût served in various executive positions for the French subscription TV service Canal+. He has also worked for several television companies in Italy, and retains a role as chairman of Stratinvest, which describes its mission as building bridges between the energy, transport and media industries in Europe and Russia.

spaghetti westerns Located to the southwest of the Italian capital in Castel Romano, Cinecittà World is easily reached within about 10 minutes of Rome’s E80 ring road. Those using public transport can catch a bus either from the local Metro terminus or Fiumicino airport. The entrance price is €29/23 (adults/kids) at the gate, or €27/21 online. Guests can discover around 20 attractions including Altair (Intamin 10-inversion coaster), Erawan (54m Intamin drop tower), Aktium (Mack Super Splash), Darkmare (Intamin indoor family drop coaster), Cinecitram (Simworx Immersive Tunnel), Veloacità Luce (racing simulator), Spruzzaincubi (Preston & Barbieri Splash Battle) and various Zamperla family rides. Dante Ferretti, who worked as a production designer on many of the movies filmed over the years at Cinecittà Studios, was responsible for the design of many of the park’s themed attraction facades, including the Temple of Moloch that greets visitors as they arrive at the park. Soundtracks played throughout the park were composed by Ennio Morricone, who is known for creating the film scores for Cinecittà classics including Sergio Leone’s 1968 Once Upon A Time In the West and Giuseppe Tornatore’s Malèna from 2000. Opened in 1937, the studios turned out as many as 350 films a year at their height, providing the backdrop for many spaghetti westerns and also scenes in famous American productions including Ben-Hur and Cleopatra. In the last six years, only 50 or so movies were made there, in addition to various commercials and television productions, mainly for the domestic market. It is therefore understandable that studio owner IEG should look to diversify by opening a theme park (the shareholders are almost the same for both enterprises). But without any of its own intellectual properties to exploit other than the Cinecittà name itself – and unwilling to licence any external IPs –– it will have to rely solely on the quality of the attractions and Ferretti’s admittedly impressive theming.

Other local parks and attractions include Zoomarine to the south and Rainbow MagicLand, which opened to the east of Rome at Valmontone in 2011. Like Cinecittà World, the latter park is located next to an outlet shopping mall. Merlin Entertainments, which operates Italy’ no.1 amusement park – Gardaland – previously announced plans to open a Sea Life aquarium in Rome, although no firm date has yet been set.
