develop 100 ZENIMAX ONLINE STUDIOS

IT’S NOT ENOUGH to have a best-selling single-player RPG these days. All the big names – Final Fantasy, Neverwinter – want a piece of the MMO pie, too. Perhaps the most high-profile

example in 2014 is The Elder Scrolls Online. In development at Maryland-based ZeniMax Online Studios, the game will continue to offer the series’ popular formula of a near-unending amount of quests and random encounters in a vast, fully explorable 3D landscape. If ZeniMax avoids the teething

problems of FF XIV, it stands a good chance of attracting many offline Elder Scrolls players to its new online frontier.

ZERO DEPENDENCY

ZERO DEPENDENCY RECENTLY turned from indie to an ambitious middleware provider, developing a new game engine called Chimera. Led by Andy Esser (pictured)

and Phil Hurst, the team aims to deliver a powerful platform that can also cater to all team sizes and requirements in terms of pricing, genre and how far developers want to delve into the tech itself. The engine will be cross-platform, with the current focus set on PC, Linux, Mac, PS4 and Vita. Zero Dependency plans to

release Chimera in a few months, and is already looking for studios to enter its beta period.
