MOST FAMOUS AS the creators of co-op zombie shooter Left4Dead, the reformed Turtle Rock Studios has another potential hit in the making with its latest entry into the co-op multiplayer genre, Evolve. The concept sees a team of
four soldiers take on a single monster across a range of environments, all of which can be controlled by players. The premise of asymmetrical multiplayer is an exciting concept that saw Take-Two pick up the IP for a cool $10.8m at the THQ auction. The title will be released
on PS4, Xbox One and PC later this year.
TWITCH
TWITCH TV HAS done for video game streaming what YouTube did for television. In the process, its given esports the boost it needed to get recognition from major media and – in the US, at least – the government. The service now receives over
35 million viewers per month and its still growing. Twitch was live at the launch of PS4 and, barring some cases of users abusing the Playroom feature to strip off on camera, has since become responsible for a large slice of its broadcasts. In 2014, Twitch will be making
its way to Xbox One, and no doubt has other plans to unveil, too.
