develop 100 OCULUS VR

COMING FROM NOWHERE in 2012 on crowdfunding website Kickstarter, and smashing its $250,000 target by raising $2.4m, virtual reality firm Oculus and its Rift headset (pictured) has sparked the imagination of developers and consumers alike on the possibilities virutal reality could bring to gaming. So confident are investors in

the innovative tech, just two months ago in December the firm raised some $75 million in series B funding to help it complete its virtual reality headset. A release may not happen this year, but developers will be keen to see what new breakthroughs this promising company makes.

OUYA

2014 COULD BE a make or break year for Ouya. The tiny Android console (pictured), initially causing waves of excitement in the industry after garnering $8.5 million on Kickstarter in 2012, has perhaps not quite had the launch it hoped for. Often finding itself at the centre

of controversy, and not being able to compete with the big three console giants despite its $99 price tag, Ouya is struggling to find its place in a packed sector. 2014 will prove a big year for the firm, whether it goes broke on a new iteration of the system, or whether it fades away – and perhaps the microconsole generation along with it.
