and distribution of PC games worldwide, forcing publishers to start taking the format seriously again after years of neglect. Now, the firm could be set to
do the same for microconsoles with Steam Machines and their SteamOS. Licenced to third- party manufacturers by Valve, these consoles will enable players to stream Steam games straight to their living room. And, who knows, maybe one
of Valve’s showcase titles for the new tech will be Half-Life 3?

WHISPERING GIBBON
THE UK START-UP grew rapidly last year thanks to Microsoft Ventures’ London Accelerator. This 12-week programme
helped Whispering Gibbon make dramatic progress on its initial title, Tiny Trees (pictured), and get to the point where it could seek further investment. Microsoft has offered the team
a new working space alongside the second wave of accelerator start-ups, which should help the team ready Tiny Trees for launch. Tiny Trees sees players nurture
a bonsai tree, which will grow differently depending on the level of care. Users will even be able to replicate their unique tree with a 3D printer.
