Rail Alliance shows what it’s made of Rail Alliance at Rail Vehicle Enhancements 2013, a glowing example of collaboration

ail Alliance members and prospective members enjoyed a full day of events organised by long-standing member Onyxrail. RVE 2013 took place at the Derby Rams Stadium at the beginning of October and featured events such as the Rail Alliance business-to-business meeting, the Rail
Vehicle Enhancements 2013 expo and the RVE technology forum. Visitors were able to hear from
industry insiders, starting with a keynote address by Ian Walmsley of Porterbrook that set out the typical perspective of vehicle owners. Walmsley explained the investments required on legacy rolling
stock and the role that SME’s can play in the multiplicity of arising refurbishment and enhancement projects. All in all, Ian delivered one of the most entertaining and valuable presentations we have had the pleasure of listening to. The Rail Alliance announced two
new funding streams; the HiTech Rail ERDF project and EIT’s Test and Trials voucher scheme. Poignantly Kevin Lane of Onyxrail explained how to overcome the barriers to supplying into the rail industry. This answered many of the
