ILAX, the provider of people- counting technology, has launched a new real-time solution
for Toc’s that could enable them to enhance the service information provided to passengers waiting at stations, or implement apps for smartphones and tablets that will enable passengers to better manage their journeys. According to Nigel Fountain,
managing director of DILAX UK: ‘This new technology has the potential to provide passengers with access to real- time information, including available seating, helping them to plan their travel to make more effective use of their time.’ As well as having the estimated arrival time of the next trains, passengers could also be provided with information showing how crowded they are. They could then choose whether to take the first train or wait a few minutes in order to have a seat for the duration of their journey. Using easily developed apps, both Android and IOS, will provide people with the same level of information, whether at home, work or any other location, using smartphones, tablets or laptops.

Enhanced fleet control V R
enson Automotive Solutions has enhanced the Venson Interactive Portal with a new dashboard. Created in conjunction with its customers, the dashboard delivers a broad range of fleet vehicle data, providing fleet managers with a snapshot of the key metrics that help to measure and manage cost and operational efficiencies. Simon Staton, director of client management for Venson said: ‘It is vital we continually review and explore ways in which we can improve our Interactive Portal. Crucially, it now includes a reports section via the dashboard. Customers can set the reporting period of their choice and review it at any time, as well as still receiving scheduled reports administered by their dedicated Venson account management team. The addition of the dashboard sees us place a comprehensive range of information at the fingertips of our customers, giving them the control they have asked for, to help them run a safe and efficient fleet.’

Interfleet launch ERTMS training programme
oll out of Interfleet Technology’s European Rail Traffic Management System (ERTMS) training modules
is receiving positive feedback with the initial courses seeing attendees from a wide cross-section of rail companies. The National ERTMS Programme is underway to roll out ERTMS Level 2 without lineside signals throughout the UK. Most people in the rail industry will be impacted and will need to be aware of the new technology. Vehicle fitment will commence in 2015 with some ITT’s having already been
issued to deliver the works. The first routes will go live without lineside signals in 2018 and by 2025 approximately 20 per cent of the infrastructure will have been fitted and lineside signalling removed. Additionally some 1,700 passenger vehicles and 850 freight locomotives across numerous different classes will have been retrospectively ETCS fitted. Interfleet’s training programme
encompasses four modules, starting with a general overview and moving through to more detailed and specialised training for specific industry areas of on-board, trackside and operations. All modules will be delivered by Interfleet’s experienced training team, headed by Rob Gordon.
