Decade in Excellence
Sharon HilditchMBE, founder of anti- ageing skin care brand Crystal Clear, has been named as the winner of the Decade in Excellence in Business award at the inauguralWomen in BusinessAwards 2013 held in Liverpool.
Sharon co-founded Crystal Clear in 1995 after spotting the potential for a non-surgical skin resurfacing treatment that would bridge the gap between salon facials and medical procedures, creating a new market in the beauty sector.
Survey indicates job rise
Despite the tough economic climate, one in five (22%) hair and beauty salons in the UK plan to hire in 2013, buoyed in part by the growth of the male market, according to a survey of over 2,600 industry professionals carried out by Salon Services.
The second annual Beautiful Britain report reveals that salon owners across most of the country have maintained employee levels during the last 12 months despite the UK’s struggling economy.
Fifty-eight percent of respondents said they feel more confident today than they did at the start of 2012. Salon Services estimates that this optimism could translate into over 10,000 new jobs in 2013.
