MP commends beauty students for iiaa accolade

Wiltshire College has become one of the first beauty therapy educational establishments to be awarded the Centre of Excellence certification from the iiaa.

The iiaa Centre of Excellence scheme helps beauty academies and colleges to attract students who want a comprehensive education that creates industry-ready therapists who are attractive to employers for a variety of career paths.

LocalMP Duncan Hames visited theAspire salon at the Chippenham campus to see the award presented by iiaa trainer Stacey Coulson to Level 2 and 3 Beauty Therapy students and programme leader Heather Terrington.

Heather said: “This is an outstanding achievement for our students, I am so proud of them all; they have worked so hard. They are great ambassadors for the college.”

Apprenticeships reformation Habia has welcomed the government’s response to the Richard Review intoApprenticeships.

Published earlier this year, The Future of Apprenticeships in England: Next Steps from the Richard Review outlines the government’s response to the review, conducted by serial entrepreneur Doug Richard on behalf of the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills (BIS) and the Department for Education (DfE).

RobYoung, HabiaMD, said: “We are pleased the government has accepted most of the recommendations outlined by Doug Richard. I think it is quite telling that almost two thirds of what the Richard Review proposed, and which the government has now accepted, is already happening in the hair and beauty sector. We feel this is vindication in what we have been arguing for all along – namely the ‘devolution’ ofApprenticeship back to employers and the groups that represent them.”
