WTCE / AIX Preview
Aircraft Interiors Expo 2013 Hamburg Messe, April 9-11 2013
This year’s Aircraft Interiors Expo will see 500 exhibiting companies taking up more than 18,000 sq m. in Hamburg.
A wide array of cabin interior products and services will be on display at this year’s Expo covering everything from whole interior design concepts, through seating systems across the different cabin classes, to galley equipment, lighting, textiles, flooring and inflight entertainment. Highlights on the exhibition floor include a
full scale model of Zodiac Premium Galleys’ upcoming Modular Galley Family. This innovative concept consists of three main elements – Core Galleys, Add-Ons and Insert Modules and visitors to the exhibition will be able to experience an exclusive insight into the concept. The model will vividly show how one flexible modular galley is set up with exchangeable add-ons and flexible insert modules. To further enhance the experience, an animated film will display the roadmap of the programme. Aircraft interiors design house Molon Labe
Designs, will present its side-slip seat concept in Hamburg. The company states it is the only seat in the industry that provides a wider aisle during turnarounds, resulting in aircraft spending less time on the ground. Essentially the aisle seat moves up and over the middle seat using a single action operation, which then facilitates easier access and egress for passengers. The wider aisle is 43 inches, which accommodates a standard wheelchair. When flying, the seat slides back into position and locks in place. Other companies displaying new products
include Pittards, SWS Certification Services, Dornier Technologie Systems and Acro Aircraft Seating. The two giants of aircraft manufacturing – Airbus and Boeing – are both exhibiting again

this year allowing visitors the chance to gain a real–time cross comparison of what these original equipment manufacturers’ future interiors might look like. The Passenger Experience Conference will
feature plenary sessions, in-depth presentations and panel discussions offering plenty of interest for all within the industry. Speakers include representatives of United Airlines, Delta Air Lines, Row 44, Oman Air, Boeing Commercial Airplanes, Airbus, Finnair, Panasonic Avionics Corporation, JetBlue and Gogo. The focus will very much be on the
flying experience for passengers, covering key topics such as what passengers will demand from a future cabin environment, how airlines should meet these changing needs and what global trends will impact passengers’ lives. The afternoon session splits down into three separate breakout strands covering Driving Extra Value for Inflight Entertainment Systems and Connectivity, New Opportunities in Hospitality and Service and Cabin Interiors to Support New Ways of doing Business.
