Industry Update FINNAIR
SERVAIR/ROYAL AIR MAROC DELTA/BUZZ
Finnair goes flat
Finnair has begun an upgrade programme on its long haul flights, adding flat Business seats. The installation programme will be completed by Autumn 2014 when all of Finnair’s long haul Airbus fleet will be upgraded – save three which will be replaced by new aircraft in 2015. Zodiac Seats’ UK Vantage model seats are already in use on the airline’s four newest Airbus A330s and are designed to provide a fully-flat bed of up to 200 cm (79”), while shoulder room measures 58 cm (23”). The adjustable seats also come with an individual reading light, adjustable head rest, mood lights and a range of inflight entertainment options. Lie-flat seats are just part of a series of upgrades. In October 2012, Finnair announced a design collaboration with Finnish design house Marimekko, whose textiles and tableware will bring a light and fresh visual dimension to aircraft interiors starting in spring 2013. A revamp of meal choices is also underway.

Servair signs Maroc
Royal Air Maroc and Servair have signed a strategic partnership agreement, seeing Servair aquire 40% of the capital of its Atlas Catering Airlines Services (ACAS). Until now a 100% subsidiary of the Moroccan airline, ACAS is now called Atlas Servair. Atlas Servair employs 750 people and owns three units based in Casablanca, Marrakesh and Agadir, with a production capacity of 35,000 onboard meals per day for around twenty airlines including Royal Air Maroc. Servair was one of seven major aircraft catering companies that bid for the contract.
The partnership is part of the national company’s restructuring plan, including its refocusing on air transport, and outsourcing activities that are not at the heart of its core business. The agreement will also enable Royal Air Maroc to make use of Servair’s expertise and worldwide network to reduce the cost and improve the quality of its catering services.
