NOV 2012 APEX EDUCATIONAL EVENT

South America reaches out As APEX stretches out its educational reach to host events in South America, attendees of its two-day event in Santiago got the chance to network with regional colleagues and also tour a LAN 787 aircraft.

Speakers gave a helpful overview of aircraft demand and trends in this region; they discussed the connectivity market as well as the need for growing in-seat power as consumers increasingly bring their own devices onboard flights.

Latin America has become a region with the highest growth in consumer electronics and is also seeing growth in airline passenger numbers. Both of these two trends suggest future synergies between these industries in South America which will be well worth watching. www.apex.aero

NOV 2012 FHC CHINA

China goes global

A record 1500 companies from more than 70 countries attended last November’s FHC China exhibition in Shanghai. Billed as ‘China’s global food and hospitality expo’ the event was a veritable United Nations of food and wine companies with the widest range of imported products ever witnessed at an event in China.

Now in its sixteenth year, the event featured, for the first time, a dedicated hall for wine and spirits suppliers.

Other specialist food events focused on olive oil tutorials and display, meat training and cooking demonstrations and a hall dedicated to tea and coffee suppliers. Here, baristas competed head to head to create latte art, espresso frappe and espresso coffee cocktails.
