Industry Update INTEX STAR ALLIANCE ALLEGIANT SYSTEMS

New supplier company Star Alliance in Brazil Techy partnership

A new company is launching on the onboard supplier market – Intex.

Set up by Debbie Petch and Matthew Lacey in the UK, Intex is working in partnership with a long-established Chinese manufacturing company which has been making products for airlines for many year, supplying them until now via agents and traders.

Says Debbie: “The Chinese company is very forward thinking and has seen that the time is right for them to approach their end customers directly. To do this they have established a sales and marketing office in the UK – which is where Intex comes in. We are bringing something new to the market – direct access to Chinese manufacturing and product know-how, but with the support of an experienced Europe-based sales and marketing team.”

The Intex product range includes blankets, pillows, pillow covers, headrest covers, sleet suits, table linen and amenity bags. www.intexcomfort.com

Star Alliance has joined forces with Brazilian ground handler, CrossRacer, to open a new lounge at Buenos Aires International Airport for its customers flying from Argentina. First and Business passengers, as well as Star Alliance Gold Card Holders, have access to this new 450-square-metre facility 24/7. The new lounge is designed to a local theme and uses materials sourced from Argentina. Customers can choose from a variety of differently furnished areas to relax and either dine socially at a large communal table, or make use of small tables, reminiscent of Buenos Aires cafes. Facilities include showers, luggage storage and a Business Centre, equipped with desktop computers, a printer, scanner and photocopier. Local calls are free, as is the Wi-Fi. The lounge marks the implementation of a new Alliance design concept combining local elements with global branding guidelines. A lounge is also being built in Los Angeles. www.staralliance.com
