Individual Profile

Mr. José María Ortega Ortiz obtained his law degree with honors from Universidad Nacional Autonoma de Mexico, School of Law in 1994. He further obtained a masters in law degree from Columbia University, School of Law in 1996. He

worked as a foreign associate for the New York office of Dewey Ballantine from 1996 to 1997. He has also obtained postgraduate studies in Commercial Litigation from Universidad Panamericana in 1999. Mr. Ortega became a partner in 1998. Over the years he has successfully represented many 500 fortune companies, financial institutions and individuals in high profile cases as those resulting from: enforcement of credit, mortgage and trust agreements; shareholders disputes; banking and securities litigation; and enforcement of all kinds of credit instruments. He is a Member of the Mexican Bar Association, and is frequently called to give seminars and speeches in international and Mexican forums. Mr. Ortega is fluent in Spanish and English.
