Dr. Mohamed Abdel Wahab
Background, Education, and Professional Experience Dr. Mohamed S. E. Abdel Wahab (MCIArb), Licence en Droit (CAI), LL.M (CAI), MPhil (MAN), Ph.D (MAN), CIArb Dip. International Commercial Arbitration (Baliol College, Oxford University – Chartered Institute of Arbitrators), European Law Course (King’s College, London University) has broad and extensive experience in international commercial and investment arbitration, mediation, online dispute resolution, and expert determination proceedings across the economic and business spectrums, including energy, construction, telecommunications, information technology, pharmaceuticals, hospitality and tourism, sale of goods, banking, and finance sectors.
Dr. Abdel Wahab also holds a number of academic visiting posts in Egypt, the UK, and the USA, where he teaches International Commercial and Investment Arbitration, Mediation, English Contract law, Comparative Law, Online Dispute Resolution, and Conflict off Laws. Dr. Abdel Wahab is an Adjunct Professor of International Commercial Arbitration (Indiana University, USA), and Faculty Coordinator for the Indiana University LLM Program in Business and Comparative Law in Egypt. Dr. Abdel Wahab is a Fellow of the National Centre for Technology and Dispute Resolution at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, USA.
Dr. Abdel Wahab is a member of the LCIA’s Arab Users’ Council, Vice-Chairman of the Cairo branch of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (CIArb) since 2005, Chair of the CIArb’s Technology Committee, and Member of the CIArb’s Practice and Standards Committee. .
Dr. Abdel Wahab is also a CEDR Accredited Mediator, and, in October 2011, has been selected to serve as a Dispute Resolution Consultant to the World Bank Group (WBG).

Publications, and Expertise Dr. Abdel Wahab holds over fifty five prizes for academic achievement, and is regularly published in learned international journals on issues of private international law, international commercial and investment arbitration, online dispute resolution, and project finance. Dr. Abdel Wahab regularly speaks at national and international conferences on International
Commercial & Investment Arbitration, Online Dispute Resolution, Globalisation, Private International Law, ADR a and E- commerce and IT Law. Amongst his recent publications are:

Arbitrator, Counsel, and Expert Experience Since 1998, Dr. Abdel W Wahab has served and acted as counsel in many complex, high value institutional and ad hoc arbitral proceedings involving parties from the Middle East, Europe, Asia, Canada, and the United S States. He is currently a lead counsel in arbitral proceedings involving multi-billion dollars claims in the telecommunications, construction, oil and gas, investment, and financial sectors.
Dr. Abdel Wahab is listed on the roasters of many arbitral institutions including the CRCICA, DIAC, BCDR-AAA, CIETAC, and KLRCA. Dr. Abdel Wahab has appeared, as counsel or arbitrator, in both ad-hoc (under the Egyptian Arbitration Act, English Arbitration Act, and the UNCITRAL) and institutional proceedings (under the auspices of the ICC, CRCICA, DIAC, SIAC, LMAA, AAA, LCIA, etc.).
As at March 2012, Dr. Abbdel Wahab has served as ‘Sole Arbitrator’ in (12) cases, ‘Presiding Arbitrator (Chairman)’ in (7) cases, and ‘Party Appointed Arbitrator’ in (16) cases. He has also served as ‘Counsel’ in more than (35) cases, ‘Legal Expert’ in (11) cases (to advise on aspects of English, Egyptian, Emirati, Bahraini, and Saudi laws in relation to construction law, telecommunications, hotel management, and conflict of laws, commercial agency and distribution, Shari’a Law, Finance, and Insurance Law). Owing to Dr. Abdel Wahab’s academic and professional legal expertise in cross border multi-jurisdictional transactions, he has acted on disputes not only governed by Egyptian law, but also disputes subject to general principles of law as well as English, French, New York, Swiss, Saudi, Bahraini, Swedish, Japanese, and United Arab Emirates law(s).
