With Summer approaching and the hopes of lying on a hot sunny beach, clients will be hoping for a toned, trim body. Advances in technology and product development now means there are a whole host of treatments you can offer from vibration plates, relaxing body wraps, non-invasive body sculpting and body firming massages.

According to a survey carried out by Slim-fast, a quarter of women said they will try to lose weight because they feel under pressure to reveal more flesh in their Summer wardrobe, while one in three wants to shape up to feel confident in her bikini.

“Throughout the Spring and Summer months body toning treatments are extremely popular and we see a huge increase in people opting for these types of treatments,” saysVictoria Trueman, Comfort Zone National Training Manager. “The key areas that people feel less confident about tend to be the legs and the abdomen. For legs it is looking at cellulite reduction.”

What many consumers are not aware of is that there are three stages of cellulite. At stage one there are no visible signs of cellulite when standing or lying down but after pinching there is a sponge-like appearance. At stage

two, when standing and lying down dimpling appears spontaneously and at stage three, dimpling is spontaneously positive when standing and lying down.

Cellulite is encouraged by draining enzymes, calledMMP’s (Matrix Mettalloprotinase), such as Collangenase and Elastinase. They tear down the scaffolding on which the skin sits and create a dimpled or ‘orange peel’ appearance.

“You might be pleased and relieved to hear that cellulite has nothing to do with being fat.And compared with men, due to our hormone cycle, women release a greater amount of these destructive enzymes,” says Constance Campion of the London Wellness Centre.

In recent years fat reduction and body sculpting treatments have undergone a revolution and this has meant that effective non-invasive treatments are now widely available. They are both safer and cheaper for clients and have no, or very little, downtime compared to invasive treatments.

gels and creams

Some clients may prefer to combat cellulite and aid body toning through professional treatments such as body wraps, scrubs and patches. These are often relaxing and enjoyable treatments and can be just as effective as some other body sculpting and vibrating systems available.

Italian skin care brand Comfort Zone has added two new products to their Body Strategist+ range.

The abdomen patch and abdomen cream gel are scientifically proven products that complete the Strategist+ range which contains a refiner, remodeller, concentrate and patch.

The abdomen patch, which adheres to the skin, uses hydrogel technology and a self-heating action to combat fat specifically in the abdomen area.

The warming sensation helps to absorb the active ingredient Suaeda Maritime, which breaks down compound fats and lipids in the area giving a visible slimming action and enables the break down of fat and the activity of similar slimming ingredients.

Once the patch has been removed the cream gel is applied and used every day thereafter. The concentrated cream gel formula complements the patch by again targeting fat in the localised area of the abdomen to create a slimming action.

Comfort Zone have also created an Attack kit including the two new products. The kit consists of six Body Strategist+ patches and 100ml Strategist+ abdomen cream gel which equates to one month’s worth of treatment.
