I can do that!

Georgie Smedley, Managing Director ofNailHarmony UK, chats to GuildNews about breaking into the beauty industry and keeping her feet on the ground.

I began working in the beauty industry because... I was always doingmy nails as a youngster and when I was gettingmarried,my boss treatedme to a set of fibreglass nails, which I was impressed with. Not too long afterwards, I was watchingmy sister getting her nails done and inmymind I thought, "I can do that!".Three weeks later I was on a course. I have been involved in the beauty industry ever since - nearly 20 years!

If I wasn't in the beauty industry I would be... I really have no idea! I dabbled in the insurance industry and found I was quite a good sales person but really didn't like it at all.

The best thing aboutmy job is... That I never really feel like I'mworking. I always look forward to coming to work and I have huge variety in what I do so it's always very interesting. But above all it's very rewarding.

An average day forme is... There are hundreds of emails that I need to respond to, I organise all themarketing and design work for our website, literature and newsletters, I look after a large wholesale chain which takes up a huge amount of time, I organise all the exhibitions which we take part in (between three and five per year), and I liase with our suppliers, making sure we're always well-stocked with products - and so muchmore!

My ideal weekend would be... I like to vegetate on a Saturday, as well as spend time with my kids. Usually Sundays are taken up by entertaining family and friends and involves me cooking lots of gorgeous Greek food!

My favourite book is... Lisa Jewel's Ralph's Party - it's laugh out loud funny!

My favourite filmis... That's a difficult one. I love Terminator 2, also The Negotiator, and somanymore, I can't decide!

Themost famous person I havemet is... BrittanyMurphy.

My favourite part of the world is... I really enjoyed being in Ghana; the people were amazing there.

I could not live without... My laptop.

My favourite beauty treatment is... A backmassage.

My rolemodel is... Considering I amin a world ofmy own - WonderWoman!

I would like to be remembered as... First and foremost a likeable and approachable person. I'd like to think that I amgenerous; not only withmaterial things but also withmy knowledge, and that I always keepmy feet on the ground and remembermy roots!
