In May 2011, aluminum casting facility Kovolit
a.s., Modrice, Czech Republic, installed a two-cham- ber melting and holding furnace with a 3,000-kg holding capacity and 1,500-kg melting capacity. It was the first delivery of a PurEfficiency series furnace produced by StrikoWestofen Group, Wiehl-Bomig, Germany. In July 2011, Kovolit reported an aver- age gas consumption of 560 kWh/ton in its melting operations area, with a bath temperature of 730C. “Te new furnace technology, its operation and reli-
ability, prompt delivery and low gas consumption have exceeded our expectations, ” said Kovolit Managing Director Edward Marecek. Kovolit is the largest commercial aluminum cast-
