is becoming more widespread. Still below the surface for most, but becoming increasingly used is the sharing of stories (largely personal) in order to build community in an increasingly diverse workplace. Here anecdote circles and appreciative inquiry may be used.

The areas above are slowly being tapped by leading organisations and practitioners. But this is still just the tip of the iceberg.

Untapped potential There is still a huge reservoir of insufficiently-used potential. Think of the utilisation of story for building emotional and social intelligence skills, to co-create marketing launches or business process redesign with customers, to address lateral thinking when dealing with problem-solving and decision making competencies, in product development, to smooth inter-departmental interfaces, recruiting and developing talent and careers, and perhaps the richest possibility of all: making use of the power of story to foster the attributes of deeper mindfulness and active imagination in organisations who wish to become more innovative, more deft at engaging with and securing their future.

End note: We like the way story has emerged since its origins and appeared throughout history in all cultures, religions and societies; how cross- pollination has taken place through Rumi, Idris Shah, Buddha, Rumi and social media; how myth, folklore, metaphor and images are embedded in the psyche.

Of course in each country there is an accent too on

difference, and in each country story is penetrating medicine, psychology, the corporate world at a different pace and in different ways.

In each corporation different functions and levels are

attracted to story to different degrees! So we warm to the challenge of the story-Rubik-cube: what approach and which stories for which purposes?
