DTI China welcomes South African business


Seventy two South African companies attended the SA Expo held firstly in Beijing then in Shanghai last November. The delegation was lead by Chinese DTI Director General Mr Lional October, through its Export Marketing and Investment Assistance (EMIA) programme following a previous commitment that was made to help SA increase its exports to China. The companies who made the trip included a variety of sectors; Amathole Berries, Spier Wines, AGE Technologies and Rand Refinery Ltd. “Subsequent to South Africa’s recent admittance into the Brics group of countries, the People’s Republic of China committed itself to assisting South Africa increase export of value-added products to that country. South Africa will utilise this platform for purposes of both penetrating the Chinese market and the attraction of foreign direct investment. This opportunity applies to companies seeking to attract foreign direct investment and project owners and managers seeking joint venture partnerships,” said Mr October.
