just run our 8th very successful Annual International Conference in the Drakensberg, featuring 7 international speakers and over 25 local experts. This year’s attendance was a record for delegates and exhibitors and ended in an unexpected highlight, when the Drakensberg Boys’ Choir, delighted the audience during the Gala Dinner.
Local ASTD members enjoy various benefits which includes a print subscription to one of the premium monthly management magazines in South Africa, Management Today. We have had a long association with the publication over the past 10 or so years. Members also receive regular newsletters, an electronic monthly copy of H.R Future and access to Human Capital Review publications. Network sessions will also shortly be planned on a monthly basis. Our annual conferences have earned the reputation as one of the best in its field.
The Dynamic Trainer workshop, one of our newest franchises, developed by the Kagan International Group, will soon be taking South Africa by storm. They have more than 20 Engagement Strategies, developed by Spencer and Laurie Kagan, which have shown remarkable results in over 20 countries and we aim to change the way trainers, facilitators and teachers engage their audiences on
a co-operative learning, fun filled, “never a dull moment basis.” Their philosophy is “if the learners are not involved, on an on- going basis, their brains go on holiday.” Our next workshop is 3-6th September 2012 for Trainers and 7th September for the teaching profession. We expect a record attendance as numbers do not limit the value of the programme. Please do contact me on
