We set new standards

Sell delivered the first ever aircraft galley back in 1955 to Deutsche Lufthansa. Passengers no longer had to go without freshly brewed coffee and tasty food in the air. Other airlines were quick to follow our example. It was a revolution, but to achieve optimal service on board, completely new equipment and a food supply chain had to be invented. How would meals for hundreds of passengers get onto the aircraft? How would all this food be stored onboard, stay fresh and be heated up?

New generation solutions It goes without saying that all this is now a way of life – 56 years later, but the same challenges remain as passenger demands increase. To meet these demands Sell has developed the new generation galley inserts using the latest technology and advanced and classic product design to suit and fit the cabin interior. “The challenge when we designed our new ovens, coffee makers, beverage makers, water boilers and bun warmers was to combine form and function with the increased functionalities required by airlines today; an insulated serving pot, a steam oven without internal overpressure and an oven door with a double safety

latch that can be operated using one hand. These are just some of the advantages of our new inserts”, says Jürgen Just, Vice President of marketing & sales at Sell.

Forward thinking

Needless to say this new generation of galley inserts comes with significant weight savings. “Having 6.5 kg less weight, our oven brings the customers fuel savings of thousands of dollars (US) – per insert”, states Just. Additionally, sophisticated closing mechanisms, low touch temperatures, and fast operating cycles all increase the ‘ease of use’ of galley inserts so valued by cabin crews. To address safety requirements, over-heat protection is a given, maximising safety within the framework of the improved styling. The increased functionalities of Sell`s inserts ensure customers get the highest quality and taste of F&B onboard. Smelling freshly brewed coffee makes passengers feel comfortable – just like home.
