Time for tea at BA New wine list for TAM Celebrity Cruises gets culinary

British Airways has partnered with Twinings as its exclusive global tea supplier across all flights and airport lounges. Tea is Britain’s most popular drink, with over 165,000,000 cups being drunk in the UK every single day. Now British Airways is making sure that the very best tea can be enjoyed in the air too. A specially selected Twinings English Breakfast blend was introduced across all British Airways flights and cabins in the New Year, bringing passengers a great tea blend that helps combat the effects altitude can have on palates. First and Club (Business class) customers

can enjoy a wide range of Twinings speciality, infusions and green teas both in British Airways lounges and in-flight. Twinings Tetra Mesh Loose Tea range, presented in delicate silk pyramid bags, will be introduced into British Airways First Class cabins from April 2012. The range will include English Breakfast; Tutti Fruitti Earl Grey; Mint Humbug; Jasmine Pearls; Red Berry Fool; and Honeycomb Camomile. Kate Thornton, British Airways’ head of product and service, says; “Tea is very much a signature beverage for our customers. British Airways prides itself on excellence in service and therefore it is crucial that we consistently deliver high-quality teas across our entire network. With its reputation for quality, Twinings is a natural choice for us.” www.ba.com

TAM Airlines is offering its passengers a new wine list. Passengers on international flights can sample wines chosen by Arthur Azevedo, executive director of the Brazilian Association of Sommeliers. “We have selected top-quality wines

from famous wine makers such as Jean- Luc Thunevin, Michel Rolland and Denis Dubordieu. Among more than 500 options, 16 were selected to pair with the more sophisticated dishes offered on the new menu,” explains Arthur Azevedo. For First class passengers one of the highlights

is the remarkable champagne Drappier La Grande Sendrée. It comes in a handmade bottle just like those used by the maison since the 18th century. Also in First class is the red wine La Croix Figeac, from Saint Émilion. In Business class, the innovation is the aromatic, fresh white wine Château de Tracy, from Pouilly-Fumé in the Loire Valley. Among the red wines is the Jean-Luc Thunevin Château Bel-Air-Ouÿ, from Saint Émilion. In Economy class, passengers can enjoy the intense flavours of Callia Alta Malbec and Callia Alta Chardonnay from San Juan, Argentina. TAM’s flight attendants have been trained

to help passengers with their wine selections. In a programme developed by Azevedo, the crew members learn the origin and histories of all the wines served on board, and receive a guide to pair them with 800 different dishes. www.tamairlines.com
