Florence Broadburst was born in rural Queensland in Australia in 1899. She is best known for revolutionising wallpaper, abandoning the conventions of traditional conservative designs for prints and techniques that were decidedly ahead of her time. The flamboyant Broadhurst travelled extensively and her time in Asia became a source of inspiration for her later work.

Today, Florence Broadhurst is credited with putting Australia on the world map of international design. Her designs are used extensively in luxury upholstery, fashion and interiors.
