SIS to reveal expansion into egaming space and digital markets

Operators will seek internet solutions at ICE following U.S. legal ruling, states international gaming expert

he DOJ ruling that existing gaming prohibitions were only applicable to sports betting is set to boost further the profile and international interest in January’s ICE Totally Gaming exhibition (24th, 25th and 26th January, Earls Court, London), according to Warwick Bartlett, CEO and founder of Global Betting and Gaming Consultancy.

IS might be a relative newcomer to ICE, but bookmaking’s premier supplier of data and pictures is embracing the expo as a way of reaching all sectors of the betting industry. For much of its 25 years, SIS has been primarily a sup- plier to the retail market, but ICE will see SIS demonstrate how it is expanding into the egaming and international markets, as well as launching new initiatives for the High Street in the UK and Ireland.

“It’s all about being relevant to the industry as a whole,” says MD Phil Siers. “We are determined to remain No 1 supplier to the domestic and international retail markets. We have some big plans for the retail sector which we aim to talk about in more depth at ICE.

We will demonstrate how SIS will help all bookmakers with retail convergence and show how SIS is also sup- porting egaming , and those overseas.”

Leading SIS’ push into the digital market is a streaming and data offering of more than 6,500 live events from horse and greyhound racing. On top of that, SIS’ football data is driving online predictor and form products.

Internationally, SIS is launching new channels and pushing into new territories, with Russia and Georgia fol- lowing last year’s drive into Greece, Austria and Latvia. “There will be no let-up from SIS in 2012,” added Siers. “But then again our customers would expect nothing less.”

Commenting on the likely impact of the ruling, which boosted the value of Britain’s largest quoted gambling companies by almost £500 million on the first day of post-Christmas trading, Mr Bartlett said: “ICE is already the global focal point for the gambling industry and I can see its influence growing further. Following the DOJ ruling software suppliers have been receiving enquiries from the USA and I expect that this will be followed up by new entrants to the market coming to ICE to see at first hand what is on offer and what deals can be achieved. “In spite of the global recession I would expect visitor numbers to be up this year because of the legislative changes that have taken place in Europe and what is expected to happen in the USA.

“ICE comes almost a month to the day that the DOJ ruling was made public following the request for clarifica- tion sought by the New York State Lottery and the Illinois Lottery on behalf of their software suppliers GTECH. “The DOJ ruling will certainly be the hot topic of the show closely followed by VLTs as more and more nations and states look toward the VLT market as a way to finance their budget deficits.”
