ALASTAIR KELLOCK
CAPTAIN
Alastair David Kellock played district rugby for Glasgow at all levels from under-16 to under-19 and was in the Scottish Schools’ team in 1998/99 as well as touring New Zealand with the Scottish youth development squad in 1999. He has represented Scotland at under-19 and under-21 including at the younger age group’s 2000 world championship in Chile. A senior Scotland debut came in the non-cap game against Queensland Reds on the 2004 summer tour of Australia, followed by a replacement appearance in the games against New South Wales Country and New South Wales Waratahs. He went on to gain his first cap against Australia at Murrayfield in the opening match of the 2004 Abbey Autumn Tests, coming off the bench, as he did when he won his second cap against Romania in the summer of 2005. His first Six Nations Championship start came in Scotland’s
victory over France at Murrayfield in February 2006. After playing in ten internationals while with Edinburgh Gunners, Alastair moved back west to join Glasgow Warriors in summer 2006. He represented Scotland against England at Twickenham in 2007 but after injury while playing for Warriors the following season, he did not figure in the national squad until replacement appearances in both Tests on the tour to Argentina in June 2008, followed by an appearance against Italy in the 2009 RBS 6 Nations. He added to his honours by competing in three A internationals in 2008 – the away victory over Italy, the 67-7 win against Ireland at McDiarmid Park, Perth, and as captain against Georgia (69-3) at his home ground, Firhill. Alastair took over as Scotland’s captain when Chris Cusiter
was injured in the first half of the Murrayfield international against Australia in November 2009. He was named as Scotland’s 110th Test match captain for the 2010 summer tour to Argentina and led the team to its first overseas tour Test series triumph. After returning from a knee injury, Kellock captained Scotland A to victory against USA Eagles at Netherdale that November and led Scotland throughout the RBS 6 Nations in 2011, scoring his first international try against France.
