GEOFF CROSS

Having played for Scotland under-21 in 2003 – including being part of the team who beat England 33-22 at Newbury in the under-21 world championship – Geoff Cross entered professional rugby later that year when he joined Borders from Heriot’s. In December 2006 he moved from Border Reivers to Edinburgh Rugby, on loan until the end of the season, and his debut for the capital city’s team followed later that month in the Magners League game against Glasgow Warriors at Hughenden. His Edinburgh contract was made permanent in summer 2007. Geoff was part of Scotland’s touring side to Argentina

in June 2008, though he was not in the match squad for either Test fixture. He made his Scotland A debut in the 69-3 victory over Georgia in November 2008 and went on to play in the wins over Russia and Uruguay in the IRB Nations Cup tournament in Bucharest in May 2009. A fourth game for Scotland A followed in the 38-7 win against Tonga in his home town, Galashiels, in November 2009, an outing repeated in November 2010 with a victory over USA Eagles at the same ground. His first international appearance came against Wales

in Scotland’s first RBS 6 Nations’ fixture of 2009, though his debut was curtailed by injury. His next Scotland cap came the following year, in Scotland’s Calcutta Cup draw with England at Murrayfield and he made three appearances during the 2011 RBS 6 Nations including the final win over Italy, his second start for Scotland.
