MAX

EVANS

Max Brian Evans was a member of Harlequins’ academy set-up though his appearances for Harlequins’ first XV were curtailed by a back injury. Taking time away from rugby, he was a professional golfer in Portugal from 2004 to 2006. During that period he underwent physio rehab on his back injury to allow him to return to the rugby field, which he did through the seven-a-side game. Joining Glasgow Warriors from Glasgow Hawks in

2007, after following his brother, Thom, north, he played in the demonstration sevens match at half-time during the Six Nations game between Scotland and Ireland at Murrayfield in March 2007. Max has played in four IRB world series sevens tournaments, all in 2007, making his debut in Hong Kong and playing the subsequent Adelaide, Twickenham, and Murrayfield events. He marked his Scotland A debut by scoring two tries

as a replacement wing in the 67-7 win against Ireland in Perth in February 2008. Max and Thom were then selected for the Scotland squad that toured Argentina four months later, though Max was not included in the side for either Test match.

The final 2008 Bank of Scotland Corporate Autumn

Test saw Max make his international debut as replacement against Canada, joining sibling Thom as a Scotland cap – they are the 45th set of brothers to play for Scotland. On his Murrayfield debut, he crossed the line against Wales in Scotland’s opening RBS 6 Nations game of 2009 and played at international level alongside his brother for the first time in the following match against France. He scored the second time for Scotland against Wales in Cardiff in 2010 and was a member of the successful squad who triumphed over Argentina during that summer’s tour. Max scored his third try for Scotland in the 2011 Calcutta Cup fixture at Twickenham.
