ALASDAIR DICKINSON


Alasdair has played for Caledonia at under-18 and under-19 and represented Scotland at all age-grade levels, taking part in three world championships – under-19 in 2002 and under-21 in 2003 and 2004. Joining Edinburgh Rugby as an apprentice in 2004,


while turning out for Heriot’s, he played in all three Scotland A matches in the 2006 Barclays Churchill Cup in Canada, scoring a try in the final against New Zealand Maori. Alasdair continued in the side for the fixture against Australia A in November 2006 and had three more games for Scotland A in the 2007 Churchill Cup in England. After three seasons with Edinburgh he joined Gloucester for season 2007/08. He was among five uncapped players included in Scotland’s RWC preparation squad, though he was not named among the final 30 players. However, following Allan Jacobsen’s leg injury in Scotland’s opening match, Alasdair was called into the squad. Less than two weeks later he made his Scotland debut in the 2007 Rugby World Cup match against New Zealand at Murrayfield. He scored two more tries for Scotland A in February


2008, one each in the wins against Italy A and Ireland A. His second cap followed when he made his Six Nations Championship debut as a replacement in Scotland’s 15-9 Calcutta Cup victory in March 2008 followed by his third against Italy. He came off the bench in both Tests against Argentina in June 2008 and was replacement again at Scotland’s three Bank of Scotland Corporate Autumn Tests. He made his first Six Nations start against France in 2009, playing in all five of the championship’s fixtures, with selection continuing throughout 2010. His first international points came at Murrayfield in


August 2011 when he crossed the line against Italy in the second EMC Test.
