RUARIDH JACKSON
Ruaridh James Howard Jackson helped Robert Gordon’s 1st XV to reach the final of the Bell Lawrie White Scottish Schools Cup in 2006 alongside gaining under- 18 international honours followed by appearances in all five of Scotland’s matches in the IRB under-19 World Championship in Belfast in April 2007. He played in all Scotland’s matches in the 2008
under-20 Six Nations Championship; he also played in four of Scotland’s matches in the 2008 IRB Junior World Championship in Wales, starting as captain and stand- off against Samoa, USA, and Canada and scoring tries against Samoa and Ireland. His first international sevens appearance came in the
opening tournament of the 2006/07 IRB World Series in Dubai and in October 2007 he was in the Rugby Ecosse Scotland squad at the Singapore sevens, followed by the IRB tournaments in Dubai and George where he scored a try in each of three successive matches in Dubai. Ruaridh made his Scotland A debut in November 2008
in the 69-3 win over Georgia at Firhill followed by the meeting against the Irish three months later, where he scored a conversion and a penalty. Two weeks later he played at inside centre in the 22-all draw with Italy A in Perth. Further Scotland A appearances followed in June 2009, when he scored 26 points in the wins over Russia and France A in the IRB Nations Cup success and against Ireland A and Italy A in 2010.
He made his Scotland debut in the EMC Autumn Test
against New Zealand in November 2010 and, in dramatic circumstances at Pittodrie Stadium, slotted a penalty from the 22 metre line with the last kick of the match to seal victory over Samoa in the final Test of 2010. His first drop goal came against England at Twickenham in the 2011 Calcutta Cup.
