Wisconsin School Musician x Festival Manager Workshops
Over 160 festival managers attended the three festival man- ager workshops held in November. The addition of a third festival manager workshop in Northeast Wisconsin area has demonstrated significant growth over the past several years. The CESA 7 workshop attracted 45 attendees this year. Addi- tional workshops were held in the CESA 10 office - Chippewa Falls and Waunakee Village Center. Festival Management Committee members Jim Welander, Stan Marczak and Ryan Petersen assisted WSMA staff in the presentations. Wiscon- sin Advocates for Music Education (WAME) committee members Leyla Sanyer and Rich Tengowski shared music advocacy methods, which may be utilized to promote music education through the festival experience. WSMA Commu- nications Director Kevin Thays shared the public relations process as initiated by the WSMA office.

Established in 1994, this program enables retired music educa- tors to share their time, knowledge and experience in support of Wisconsin Center for Music Education activities. Through this partnership, the retired music educators continue to serve and stay connected with their music education profession. They are an integral part of the services available to member schools, students and teachers.
Field representatives provide vital support in a variety of duties, from assisting with adjudicator assignments to first year teacher mentoring and assistance. They also impact other projects including High School and Middle Level State Hon- ors Project auditions, State Marching Band Championships, Wisconsin State Music Conference and volunteer opportuni- ties at the Wisconsin Center for Music Education.
The agenda, minutes and photo of the 2010 fall meeting may be found in the “WSMA Field Reps” pages of “About Us” at
www.wsmamusic.org.
The field reps have provided support for the following since the fall meeting:
State Marching Band Championships at UW-Whitewater: 8 Field Reps
Wisconsin State Music Conference: 18 Field Reps
Initial adjudicator scheduling at the Wisconsin Center for Music Education: 7 Field Reps
